Time Requirements for Belt Advancement
All Adult students may test sooner after Purple belt on case by case depending on attendance and teaching time. These Adult students will be disscused with Adult Black Belt board and Master Starnes before Adult student will be allowed to test.
White Belt to Gold - Anytime
Gold Belt to Orange- 2 months
Orange Belt to Green - 3 months
Green Belt to Blue - 3 months
Blue Belt to Purple- 6 months
Purple Belt to Low Brown- 6 months
Low Brown Belt to High Brown- 6 months
High Brown Belt to Red- 6 months
Red Belt to 1st Degree Black- 9 months
1st Degree Black Belt to 2nd Degree Black - 2 years (Adults)
Youth Black Belt ( Black Belt w/ white stripe) 12 years old and Under
Jr. Black Belt ( Soild Black Belt) 13 -17 years old
Adult Black Belt (Soild Black Belt) 18years- above
Youth & Jr. Black Belts will be welcome to sit in on Black Belt Board meetings although Jr. Black Belts will have No votes until they become 18 years of age.
As of Sept. 1st 2010 All Youth and Jr. Black Belts will be required the following:
1st degree black - 2nd degree black belt 3 years
2nd degree black - 3rd degree black belt 4 years
2nd Degree Black Belt to 3rd Degree Black- 3 years (Adults)
All Youth, Jr. and Adult Black Belts will have an 18 month probation period before Black Belt certificate will be presented.

TYPEWRITTEN HISTORY
Resume including accomplishments in karate, your goals, and why you should be a candidate for Black Belt
TOURNAMENTS
Candidate must have competed in 12 tournaments by the time they are ready to test for Black Belt. Tournament attendance should begin now. Tournaments must be documented in resume.
SPARRING
15-2 minute rounds with 1 minute rest in between rounds. Rounds 7 and 14 are 2 opponents on 1. At any time the board has the option to stop the testing if the board feels either the candidate is in danger, or stops fighting. Should the board stop the fight the result is failure. People 38 years old and up have option on number of fights.
PROBATION PERIOD
A new Black Belt must be active for 18 months after a test, attending class, belt exams, and Black Belt meetings. If not active the result will be demotion to Red Belt.
SPECIAL NOTE
Junior Black Belt under the age of 18 cannot test for 2nd degree Black Belt for 3 years and do not vote as a member Black Belt.
